A career educator from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Dr. Travis Hux was the superintendent of Excelsior Springs School District for 2 years before retiring in 2023. Prior to this role, Dr. Travis Hux was a classroom teacher and an administrator.
Dr. Hux’s career in education began in 1998 with Cape Girardeau Public Schools, where he taught sixth graders. He moved into administration when he accepted a position as assistant principal for Hearnes Elementary School in 2002. In 2005, he accepted another assistant principal position with St. Clair Junior High School.
In 2006, Raytown C-2 School District hired him as assistant director of human resources. He was in charge of certification, student teaching, recruitment, human resources, and technology. He then became the assistant superintendent of support services for Raytown C-2 School District in 2009, where his role expanded to overseeing bond issue projects, building a wellness center and staff clinic, and supervising an estimated1,400 employees in a district of approximately 8,800 students.
Throughout his extensive career in education, Dr. Hux has belonged to several professional organizations. He is an active member of the Missouri Association of School Business Officials, the Missouri Association of School Administrators, and the School Superintendents Association. His education and training include a bachelor’s degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University, a master’s degree in educational administration from Southeast Missouri State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Saint Louis University.
